A feature that lets you reserve launch capacity in advance for a specified instance type in a particular Availability Zone.
Unlike a Reserved Instance, which is a pricing discount contract, a capacity reservation exists purely to guarantee that capacity will be available when you need it. It's used when you need to be certain instances can launch at a specific date and time, such as for a major event or a disaster recovery drill.
