Short for Global Server Load Balancing. A global load-balancing technology, typically DNS-based, that distributes traffic across multiple geographically dispersed sites. It typically switches which IP it returns based on each site's health and latency, and is also used for disaster recovery, automatically failing over to another site when one goes down.
