APT (Advanced Persistent Threat)

English

Overview

A sophisticated attacker or attack campaign that targets a specific organization and remains hidden inside it over a long period while evading detection.

Details

Short for Advanced Persistent Threat. Unlike typical financially motivated cyberattacks, an APT is often carried out by state-sponsored groups aiming to steal confidential information, taking their time to expand their foothold within the target. Targeted phishing emails are a common entry point for an APT.
