Storage Management

iSCSI

English

Overview

A technology for using storage as a block device over an IP network.

Details

A technology that encapsulates SCSI commands for transport over an IP network, letting remote storage be treated like a local disk. The side providing storage is called the target and the side using it the initiator; compared to Fibre Channel, which needs dedicated fiber cabling, it can ride on existing IP network infrastructure, which is its main cost advantage.
