Switching

Access Port

English

Overview

A port that belongs to only a single VLAN, used to connect end devices.

Details

A port belonging to a single VLAN, typically used to connect end devices. It contrasts with a trunk port, which carries tags for multiple VLANs. Out of the box, most switch ports default to being access ports on the default VLAN (VLAN 1), which can unintentionally blur security boundaries if left unconfigured.
