Classless Inter-Domain Routing. A notation that expresses a network range flexibly using a prefix length (e.g., 192.168.1.0/24) instead of the old fixed Class A/B/C divisions. It's also used for route aggregation (summarization), which helps keep routing tables from growing too large.
