Full Duplex / Half Duplex

English

Overview

A distinction based on whether a communication channel can send and receive data at the same time, or only alternately.

Details

Full duplex sends and receives independently and simultaneously, and nearly all wired LANs today operate this way. Half duplex can't send and receive at once and must alternate between them, as seen in Wi-Fi and older coaxial Ethernet.
