Native VLAN

English

Overview

The default VLAN that passes through a trunk port without being tagged.

Details

The default VLAN forwarded without a tag on a trunk port. A configuration mismatch can also become a security risk. If the native VLAN setting doesn't match on both ends of a trunk, frames can leak between VLANs that were never meant to communicate -- an opening for an attack known as VLAN hopping.
