A technology that centrally manages and optimally controls WAN links across multiple sites through software.
Short for Software-Defined WAN. A technology that abstracts multiple WAN links and dynamically controls routing through software according to application requirements. Where inter-site traffic once relied on dedicated lines such as MPLS, SD-WAN can spread it across several cheaper links, including broadband and LTE, and dynamically pick a path based on how important each application is -- its main selling point.
