A mechanism by which a device automatically configures its own IPv6 address based on router advertisements.
Short for StateLess Address AutoConfiguration. A mechanism by which a device autonomously configures an IPv6 address without DHCP, based on information from router advertisements (RAs). The interface ID it generates can come from either the EUI-64 method, derived from the MAC address, or privacy extensions, which use a random value to resist tracking; modern OSes default to the latter.
