Short for Dynamic Multipoint VPN. A Cisco-proprietary VPN technology that combines GRE, IPsec, and NHRP to automatically build dynamic full-mesh connections between sites. NHRP lets sites establish tunnels directly with each other rather than routing through the hub (headquarters), easing the bandwidth and processing bottleneck that a traditional hub-and-spoke VPN tends to create at the hub.
