A data-link-layer tunneling protocol with no encryption of its own.
Short for Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol. A protocol that implements layer 2 tunneling. Since it has no encryption capability of its own, it's normally combined with IPsec. It uses UDP port 1701, and in practice the pairing is commonly referred to together as L2TP/IPsec.
