Troubleshooting

Broadcast Storm

English

Overview

A phenomenon where broadcasts multiply endlessly due to a loop and communication becomes impossible.

Details

A phenomenon where, due to a network loop or similar cause, broadcast frames multiply exponentially, consuming bandwidth and paralyzing the network. When STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) is working correctly, it automatically blocks the loop in a redundant path, so a misconfiguration or disabled STP is usually the root cause.
