A dedicated measuring device that inspects the correctness of LAN cable wiring and checks for breaks. Used to isolate wiring mistakes in self-made cables or breaks from age-related degradation. More capable models can also measure cable length and roughly locate the distance to a break, which helps pinpoint faults in large-scale wiring.
