A routing protocol that exchanges route information between networks of different organizations.
Short for Border Gateway Protocol. A path-vector routing protocol that exchanges route information between autonomous systems (ASes), forming the backbone of internet routing. Unlike an IGP, it doesn't judge a route by a simple metric like hop count -- it weighs multiple path attributes together, such as AS path length and local preference.
