An aggregation device on the CATV operator's side that terminates subscriber cable modems.
Short for Cable Modem Termination System. A headend device that terminates communication with subscribers' cable modems and relays it to the upstream IP network. With the shift to DAA, configurations that distribute some of its functions out to the node are becoming more common.
