A CATV network design that uses fiber for the trunk and coaxial cable for the run to subscriber homes.
Short for Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial. A CATV operator's transmission architecture that connects the headend to a distribution node over fiber, and the node to subscriber homes over coaxial cable. While migration to fully fiber FTTH is progressing, HFC remains widely used as a way to make use of existing plant.
