An architecture that distributes some CMTS functions out to the node, closer to subscribers.
Short for Distributed Access Architecture. A design that moves CMTS functions (particularly PHY-layer processing) traditionally centralized at the headend out to near the optical node, reducing the analog optical transmission segment to improve transmission quality and bandwidth efficiency. Considered the mainstream architecture for the DOCSIS 4.0 era.
