A metric that tells a neighboring AS which route it should preferably use to enter your network.
Multi-Exit Discriminator. A BGP attribute, where a lower value indicates a more preferred route, used to suggest to a neighboring AS with multiple connection points which inbound path is preferred. It carries lower priority than local preference, and is only a suggestion -- the neighboring AS isn't obligated to follow it.
