A router that relays route information to simplify full-mesh iBGP connectivity.
A router that aggregates and redistributes route information to avoid needing a full-mesh iBGP topology. Other iBGP routers (clients) only need to peer with the route reflector, keeping the number of sessions from growing linearly with the router count (a full mesh needs N(N-1)/2 sessions for N routers).
