A link-state routing protocol, in the same family as OSPF, used to exchange routing information.
Short for Intermediate System to Intermediate System. Originally designed for the OSI reference model, it was later extended to support IP networks. IS-IS is often adopted in the backbone networks of large telecom carriers and ISPs.
