A link-state routing protocol commonly used within a single organization.
Short for Open Shortest Path First. A link-state IGP (interior gateway protocol) in which each router holds topology information for the entire network and calculates the shortest path. Large networks can be divided into areas for manageability, and traffic between any two non-backbone areas is always designed to pass through area 0, the backbone area.
