An extended version of OSPF that supports IPv6 networks.
The core algorithm is the same as IPv4's OSPF, but the packet format has been revised to match IPv6's addressing scheme. In dual-stack environments, it's common to run OSPFv2 for IPv4 and OSPFv3 for IPv6 side by side.
