A method that decides routing based on criteria such as source address, not just destination address.
Unlike ordinary destination-based routing, this decides the path based on arbitrary conditions such as source address or application type. It can handle requirements that a plain routing table can't express, such as sending only a specific department's traffic out over a separate line.
