Mutually importing route information between different routing protocols.
A mechanism that injects routes learned by one routing protocol into another to share them. Needed when integrating networks where different protocols coexist. Since each protocol measures its metric differently, redistribution requires explicitly specifying a default metric -- skipping this can prevent routes from propagating correctly.
